Summary
Join Voodoo's Live Games team as a Concept Artist and contribute to the evolution of Paper.io 2 from a hyper-casual to a casual-midcore game. Collaborate with the Art Director and team to design and produce high-quality concept art for characters, environments, and props. You will work on illustrations, gather references, brainstorm ideas, and create mock-ups. This fully remote position, within +/- 2 hours of Paris, requires 3+ years of experience as a Concept Artist in the mobile gaming industry, proficiency in various art tools, and excellent communication skills. The role involves shaping the visual identity of the game and enhancing player experience. Voodoo is a leading mobile game publisher with a global reach and a portfolio of successful games.
Requirements
- 3+ years as a Concept Artist, preferably in the mobile gaming industry
- Strong capabilities in concept art, including a keen eye for detail, composition, and style
- Ability to adapt to different visual styles and produce assets that align with the gameβs vision
- Skilled in tools like Maya, Blender, Unity, and Photoshop
- Proficient in low-poly modelling and texturing pipelines; familiarity with Maya rigging workflows is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Resourceful and proactive, with the ability to troubleshoot and iterate effectively
Responsibilities
- Design and produce high-quality concept art for characters, environments, and props
- Work on illustrations for icons or stylised assets that align with the gameβs aesthetic
- Partner with the Art Director to align on visual style and direction
- Actively contribute by providing creative ideas and constructive feedback
- Gather references, brainstorm ideas, and create mock-ups that clearly communicate the artistic vision
- Contribute to the creative direction by delivering compelling and innovative designs
Preferred Qualifications
- Create low-poly 3D models, including texturing, to meet both technical and artistic requirements
- Experience in VFX creation or animation
- Strong illustration skills, particularly in icon design
- A background in rigging characters in Maya or contributing to animation pipelines
