Summary

Join Turner & Townsend's Phoenix, Arizona data center team as a Senior Cost Engineer. Manage and analyze costs for data center construction projects, ensuring financial efficiency and accuracy throughout the project lifecycle. Develop and maintain detailed project budgets, perform cost analysis and forecasting, and identify financial risks and mitigation strategies. Prepare and present cost reports, collaborate with project teams, and identify cost savings opportunities. Manage third-party quantity surveyors and maintain a repository of historical cost data. Define and track cost performance metrics, leading monthly cost reporting and analysis. Remote candidates with exceptional experience and qualifications will be considered.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in cost engineering, with a focus on data center construction
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, proficiency in cost estimation software, excellent communication and presentation abilities, and a solid understanding of financial forecasting and cost accounting principles
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to thrive in a client-facing role
  • Good organization skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and be a team player

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and services
  • Perform comprehensive cost analysis and forecasting to ensure projects stay within budget
  • Identify potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports and progress updates to project managers and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with project teams, procurement, and contract management to ensure cost control and planning advice
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in project design and execution
  • Engage and manage third-party quantity surveyors and validate construction cost estimates
  • Update and maintain a repository for historical cost data to inform future projects
  • Define and track cost performance metrics, leading monthly cost reporting and analysis
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable
