Summary

The job is for a Ceph Expert at CloudLinux, a remote-first company. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining storage infrastructure using Ceph and SeaweedFS. The ideal candidate should have expertise in Linux System Administration, KVM Virtualization, OpenNebula, and related tools like RADOS, CephFS, and RBD.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Ceph/SeaweedFS Expert with a track record of successful cluster implementations
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux and Linux based virtualization solutions (kvm, containers)
  • Proficiency in related tools and technologies such as RADOS, CephFS, and RBD
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Ansible) for efficient management of storage infrastructure
  • Experience with storage virtualization and containerized environments
  • Experience with Jenkins. Gitlab, Gerrit, Terraform, monitoring solutions like Prometheus - significant plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain storage clusters to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Ceph/SeaweedFS related issues, providing timely resolution to minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate cluster solutions
  • Ensure compatibility and performance optimization between different cluster components
  • Upgrading hardware and expanding storage
  • Conduct performance analysis and implement enhancements to optimize storage efficiency and responsiveness
  • Work on capacity planning and scaling strategies to accommodate future growth
  • Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard data stored in Ceph clusters
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices related to storage solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide storage solutions that align with organizational goals
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
