Summary

Join our team as an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and develop cutting-edge PCBAs for robotics applications. You will leverage your expertise in power electronics, digital and analog electronics, and Altium to create and validate designs for critical components. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, collaboration with other engineers, and experience with PCB layout and fabrication. You will be responsible for managing design processes, working with vendors, and supporting system integration and testing. A Bachelor's or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of industry experience are required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Solid EE fundamentals with hands-on experience designing, building, and testing PCBAs
  • Mastery of Altium (or similar EDA tools) in both schematics and layout
  • Mastery of power electronics (motor driver, switch mode power supplies), digital electronics (MCU, FPGA, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C), and analog electronics (filters, ADC/DAC)
  • Mastery of debugging HW issues. You know how to attack a problem, document, and come up with solutions quickly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual designs and conduct trade studies to support key design decisions
  • Design and validate PCBAs for critical components of the robotics compute boards, camera electronics, power distribution boards, battery management systems, sensing boards, or motor controllers
  • Support the review of design artifacts (schematics, layouts, bill of materials) from your peers or external suppliers
  • Support system integration and test activities by contributing to test execution and debugging
  • PCB layout of new and existing designs
  • Preparation and release of fabrication/assembly files
  • Manage library and PCB processes (footprint/component creation, design release process, checklists, etc)
  • Perform and manage vendor design for manufacturing feedback
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Camera Electronics
  • Designed high speed boards (PCIe Gen1-5, USB3/4, MIPI, GMSL, 10G Ethernet) with high current power supplies for compute modules
  • Understanding of signal integrity issues and how to mitigate them
  • Experience with very small boards (HDI, flex, rigid flex)
  • Experience using LTspice and Python
  • Embedded programming of DSPs, microcontrollers, and FPGAs
  • Knowledge of Motor EM Design
  • Experience with control systems for robotic locomotion
