Summary
Join Magnet Forensics as a Senior Electrical Engineer and contribute to the design, validation, and production of embedded systems for digital investigative software. You will be responsible for schematic design, PCB layout, board bring-up, test plan execution, component selection, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role requires experience shipping embedded systems, a strong understanding of EE principles, proficiency in schematic and PCB layout creation, and excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with high-speed interfaces, complex embedded Linux SOCs or FPGAs, and familiarity with compliance testing. Requirements
- Prior experience shipping embedded systems β ideally embedded Linux systems. ( 3β6 years of experience is ideal )
- Strong understanding of EE principles applied to circuit board design: signal integrity, power delivery, firmware, and peripheral standards (USB, I2C, SPI, etc)
- Proficient in creating schematics and PCB layouts, as well as reviewing them. (We use Kicad.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication. (Being remote, we are a document forward group!)
- Comfortable with lab tools: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, etc
- Familiarity with board-level debugging and prototype rework
Responsibilities
- Schematic design and PCB layout oversight for digital and mixed-signal systems
- Support board bring-up and system integration alongside firmware and software teams
- Write and execute test plans for prototypes and production builds
- Perform component selection, BOM optimization, and supplier coordination
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams on product definition and delivery
- Own and maintain documentation for designs, test results, and revisions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing for and debugging USB, Ethernet, or other high-speed interfaces
- Prior work with complex embedded Linux SOCs or FPGAs (experience with Xilinx FPGAs/ Zynq/ZynqMP is a huge plus)
- Comfortable with writing C for firmware or embedded Linux applications. (Plenty of room to expand here, if interested!)
- Experience with low-power, anti tamper, or mechanical system design
- Familiarity with compliance testing (EMI/ESD/thermal)
- Some scripting or automation (e.g., Python, test data capture)
