Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in power markets, including roles such as Transmission Engineer at an ISO, utility, or similar organization, or as an analyst on a power trading desk
  • FTR trading experience is an asset
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python, or similar scientific programming languages
  • Expertise in Power Flow and production cost modelling of North American power markets using tools like DAYZER, PowerWorld, PLEXOS, MATPOWER, Promod, or similar platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of power market economics, including congestion pricing mechanisms

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and continuously improve Power Flow models to support FTR and daily trading activities
  • Analyze and process large datasets to model and forecast key fundamentals such as supply, demand, pricing, and grid congestion within the American power grid
  • Predict congestion and pricing trends in power markets to inform trading decisions and strategies
  • Maintain, execute, and continuously improve power flow models, ensuring their accuracy and relevance
  • Share knowledge and contribute to training Junior Analysts
