Summary

Join the Movement Voter Project (MVP) as a Senior Finance Officer and lead the organization's financial operations across multiple legal entities. Manage daily finance operations, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Lead organizational budgeting, partner with other teams to ensure budget alignment, and navigate complex compliance regulations. Serve as the Sage Intacct lead, analyze financial data, and communicate financial reports to leadership. Supervise finance staff and vendors, build financial literacy across teams, and contribute to the organization's long-term sustainability. The role requires significant nonprofit finance experience, expertise in Sage Intacct, and a strong understanding of 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC grantmaking. The position is remote, with a preference for East Coast candidates, and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Requirements

  • 7+ years nonprofit finance experience, with senior-level authority
  • Experience across 501c3, 501c4, and PAC grantmaking
  • Deep Sage Intacct fluency (daily use, system admin, reporting, configuration)
  • Experience in high-volume election cyclesโ€”fast, accurate grantmaking and fund accounting
  • Strong working knowledge of nonprofit compliance
  • Audit experience, including IRS Form 990; restricted fund tracking, and internal control systems
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills in remote environments

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily finance operations across MVPโ€™s 501c4, and PACs, as well as Movement Voter Fund, a 501c3
  • Ensure accurate bookkeeping, reconciliations, and close processes in Sage Intacct , in accordance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver timely reporting to leadership and board; support audits and regulatory compliance across entities
  • Lead organizational budgeting across all entities and support forecasts
  • Partner with programs, development and legal teams to ensure budget alignment and donor compliance
  • Track restricted funds and entity-specific grant rules
  • Navigate FEC, IRS lobbying restrictions, PAC rules, and ensure transparent funding structures
  • Serve as Sage Intacct lead, including configuration, dashboards, and staff onboarding
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership informed of MVPโ€™s financial status
  • Coordinate with external Controller for strong segregation of duties and financial controls
  • Coordinate the annual financial audit process with external auditors, internal team, and external advisors
  • Continuously refine workflows, reporting tools, and close checklists
  • Supervise internal finance/admin staff and vendors (e.g. Controller, accounting team)
  • Be the go-to for non-finance colleagues seeking financial reports and other appropriately external-facing data
  • Build financial literacy and transparency across teams
