Summary

Join Devoted Studios, a production management company in the video game industry, as their Senior Financial Leader. This role offers a unique opportunity to own the global accounting and reporting infrastructure, spearhead the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and build a sustainable financial foundation for the company's growth. You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle, global tax, project cost, and management reporting, while also co-leading the Dynamics 365 BC rollout and continuous improvement. The position requires strong technical accounting skills, experience with ERP systems, and proven leadership abilities. The role is remote, with a preference for hybrid work in the Greater Toronto Area, but open to fully remote arrangements for the right candidate anywhere in Canada. Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting (including audit or financial control roles)
  • Direct experience implementing or managing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Proven experience in financial modeling with complex formulas in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Experience managing external audits and coordinating with global service providers
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and financial reporting under US GAAP and IFRS frameworks
  • Strong technical accounting background and experience with process automation
  • Basic fundamental knowledge of corporate law, international tax planning, and compliance
  • Ability to work in a dynamic start-up environment, while retaining focus and being flexible
  • Proven project management and leadership skills
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as internal product owner for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Co-lead the roll-out, configuration, and continuous improvement of Dynamics 365 BC
  • Ensure every finance-relevant module is implemented, integrated, and used to best-practice standards
  • Design, implement, and document finance-relevant modules and workflows
  • Liaise with Microsoft implementation partners and guide cross-functional teams
  • Build Power BI dashboards and financial reporting datasets and financial dashboards (Finance Report, Projects Report, KPIs Report packs)
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close under US GAAP
  • Oversee daily bank reconciliations and approve them as accurate and complete
  • Oversee cash management and build daily and monthly cash flow forecasts (automated)
  • Supervise and lead monthly revenue recognition process/WIP calculation under IFRS 15
  • Select suitable revenue recognition models for each project (legal contract) using the project WIP method
  • Supervise sales orders, invoicing, and sales journals
  • Implement strong credit management policies and approve credit limits
  • Supervise aged accounts receivable
  • Supervise orders, invoicing, vendor & employee payment journals
  • Implement and maintain the fixed assets sub-ledger and depreciation books
  • Manage the Projects (Job) module end-to-end and advise the FP&A team on usage, including project budgeting/estimation, WIP, cost recognition, revenue recognition, and billing
  • Implement and supervise the appropriate use of analytical dimensions, including Global Dimensions
  • Act as process owner for payroll, whether processed in-house or via an external provider (e.g., ADP)
  • Work with the FP&A Lead to build Power BI insights for labor cost, utilization, overtime, and benefits trends
  • Implement and maintain global tax compliance processes across North America and Europe
  • Provide insights and reports to executive leadership on financial performance and risk areas
  • Automate and improve accounting workflows, including consolidation and management reporting
  • Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements and oversee external audits
  • Manage intercompany transactions, payroll accounting, and employee cost allocations
  • Partner with internal tax counsel on global tax filings and compliance
  • Foster a culture of process excellence and continuous improvement
  • Hire, mentor, and performance-manage accountants and analysts
  • Collaborate with FP&A, HR, Delivery, and IT teams to ensure operational alignment
  • Coordinate the preparation of legal and accounting documentation to support intra-group transactions (agreements, invoices, etc.)
  • Organize and manage the full cycle of the month-end financial closing process
  • Inform the CFO about significant trends in financial statements, material transactions, and budget variances
  • Manage workflows with global service providers for accounting, payroll, and tax services
  • Manage the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements of Devoted Group in full compliance with US GAAP (or IFRS, as might be applicable)
  • Manage the external audit of consolidated financial statements of Devoted Group
  • Manage local audits (or review engagements) in controlled foreign corporations (with the direct assistance of an in-house tax lawyer)
  • Manage global tax compliance (with the direct assistance of an in-house tax lawyer)
  • Manage the preparation and submission of corporate income tax returns for all group legal entities (globally)
  • Manage the workflows and due dates with local-country CPAs and tax firms (with the direct assistance of an in-house tax lawyer)
  • Manage the preparation and submission of other tax-related documentation and returns, including transfer-pricing documentation, CFC reporting / US Form 5472, etc. (with the direct assistance of an in-house tax lawyer)
  • Manage the preparation and submission of personal income tax return for the U.S. shareholder (UBO) (with the direct assistance of an in-house tax lawyer)

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting designation
  • Previous experience in a Big 4 accounting firm
  • Power BI experience
