Senior Front End Engineer

Summary

Join AKKO, a fast-growing insurtech company, as a Senior Front-End Engineer. You will design, develop, and maintain front-end applications for web and mobile platforms using React. This role requires strong technical skills, creativity, and a commitment to testing. You will collaborate with designers and other developers, providing technical leadership and mentoring junior team members. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of front-end experience, including at least 3 years with React, and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field. This is a full-time contract position open to international applicants.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working in front-end development (preferably with startup experience) with a strong portfolio of projects demonstrating expertise in React (minimum 3 years React experience)
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Use of the following technologies on a daily basis: JavaScript / TypeScript, Vue.js, React, Google Cloud Functions, Google Cloud Run, Netlify

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable front-end applications for both web and mobile platforms
• Drive the implementation of user interfaces in collaboration with UX/UI designers, optimizing for an exceptional user experience
• Provide technical leadership in front-end development, guiding and mentoring junior team members
• Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to ensure our applications remain at the forefront of innovation
• Ensure high code quality through best practices, code reviews, and continuous integration
• Implement and maintain a robust testing framework, encompassing unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests to ensure the reliability and functionality of front-end applications
• Optimize application performance for a seamless and responsive user experience
• Work closely with UX/UI designers to implement visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces
• Communicate effectively with back-end developers, the product team, and other stakeholders to integrate front-end and back-end functionalities seamlessly
• Identify and address technical challenges, proposing innovative solutions to optimize application performance and usability

Preferred Qualifications

• Python/Flask
• PostgreSQL
• Docker, Cloud Providers like AWS or GCP
• Experience with state management libraries and RESTful API integration
• Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks (such as Jest, Mocha, Cypress) for both web and mobile platforms, demonstrating a commitment to high-quality, bug-free user experiences
• Strong understanding of responsive design principles
• Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under tight deadlines
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment and contribute to a positive and collaborative culture
