Senior Frontend Engineer

Summary

Join Airbnb's Guest Displays & Platforms team as a Senior Frontend Web Engineer and help lead the development of major new features impacting the guest experience. You will collaborate with designers and cross-functional teams to shape product goals into a viable user experience, identify patterns to increase developer velocity, and maintain technical quality. This role requires 5+ years of experience building consumer web applications at scale, strong expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Typescript, and experience with modern JavaScript frameworks. The position is US-Remote Eligible, with occasional office work possible. Compensation includes a base pay range of $185,000-$223,000 USD, plus potential bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience building consumer web applications at scale
• Enough backend system expertise to steer discussions and find the right tradeoffs for frontend-backend split of responsibilities
• Strong expertise in the following: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Typescript
• Extensive experience with modern Javascript frameworks such as React, Preact, Angular, Next, Vue or Meteor
• Deep understanding of frontend architecture and improving build processes (npm, yarn, webpack, parcel)
• An understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Passion for building interactive and delightful user experiences
• Bachelors degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent industry experience

Responsibilities

• Explore, shape, and develop new product experiences alongside cross-functional partners (design and product); from ideation to implementation at scale
• Lead investments into new technical capabilities that push the envelope and unlock product innovation
• Nurture a culture of technical quality from design, through code review, to production operations
• Identify and propose solutions to problems coming in the way of technical and product engineering excellence
• Collaborate with internal teams across Search, Checkout, Reservations, Host Settings, Listings, Payments, Tax, Cities, Trust and others
