Join Kanopi Studios as a Senior Full Stack WordPress Engineer and contribute to building exceptional digital experiences for our mission-driven clients. This fully remote role, open to US and Canada residents, involves hands-on development, collaboration, and strategic improvements on WordPress sites. You will craft custom solutions, build themes and plugins, and work with modern development practices. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, expertise in WordPress, and experience in an agency environment. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, ranging from $81,000 to $117,400. Kanopi offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees.
Requirements
- Have 5+ years of related WordPress experience
- Have worked in an agency environment, preferably in multiple time zones
- Demonstrate knowledge of industry trends
- Show strong problem-solving abilities, intelligence, and initiative
- Have strong debugging skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of modern development workflows, including command line, gitflow, containers, and dev/stage/prod environments
- Deeply understand modern web standards and technologies
- Exhibit thoughtful, inclusive, and articulate communication skills in writing and in person
- Have a BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
Responsibilities
- Understand our clients' business goals and needs for the sites we support
- Identify issues, research solutions, and advise on best practices aligned with client goals
- Explain complex technical concepts in clear, accessible language for non-technical audiences
- Make smart technical design decisions and trade-offs considering our clientsโ business requirements
- Expertly craft custom front- or back-end solutions in WordPress
- Build, adapt, and configure WordPress sites using modern development practices
- Work with existing WordPress codebases to extend and improve them
- Develop native Gutenberg blocks using React and build custom themes and plugins
- Create HTML templates and patterns optimized for full-site editing
- Perform end-to-end responsibilities for engineering work on complex projects
- Contribute to our common code libraries
- Write tests and contribute to test cases
- Plan and execute new features on existing sites
- Build against an established suite of user stories for large-scale projects
- Proactively identify issues and technical limitations and communicate clearly across agency functional areas
- Clearly document code and processes to communicate your technical decisions
- Mentor new and developing engineers
