Join Kanopi Studios as a Contract Senior Full Stack WordPress Engineer and contribute to building and supporting websites for mission-driven clients. This 100% remote contract position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the US or Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be involved in hands-on development, collaborating on various projects, and adhering to high-quality standards. Your responsibilities will include building and configuring WordPress sites, developing Gutenberg blocks using React, creating templates and patterns for full-site editing, and developing custom plugins and themes. The ideal candidate possesses 4+ years of professional WordPress experience, proficiency with Advanced Custom Fields, and expertise in building custom Gutenberg blocks. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in a remote agency environment.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional WordPress experience
- Proficient with Advanced Custom Fields (fields, taxonomies, CPT, REST API)
- Experienced in building custom Gutenberg blocks using React and ACF
- Strong understanding of templates and patterns for full-site editing
- Skilled in JavaScript, including React (Next.js experience is a plus)
- Well-versed in modern development workflows (Composer, CLI, GitHub, Docker, multi-environment setup and deployment)
- Deep understanding of modern web standards and technologies
- Holds a BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
- Comfortable working in support roles and open to doing so
- Proven experience in an agency environment, preferably remote, with the ability to manage multiple time zones
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities, intelligence, and initiative
- Regularly communicate with your team regarding questions, task estimates, progress, and potential issues
- Exhibits thoughtful, inclusive, and articulate communication skills, both written and verbal
Responsibilities
- Building and configuring WordPress sites
