Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geospatial/GIS Analysis or Engineering
- At least 8 years of experience in the geospatial industry: for example sourcing, development, and implementation of geospatial data
- Expert in geospatial software such as QGIS
- Demonstrated proficiency in scripting with SQL and Python, and an understanding of spatial processing libraries such as geopandas and GDAL
- Expert with geospatial databases and data analysis tools such as PostGIS
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex geospatial concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Must be available for travel to a corporate office in Montana bi-annually
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary geospatial expert for the Offroad product, building solutions, and being the point person implementing geospatial-related technical solutions
- Collaborate between the Content and Offroad team Developers to ensure that geospatial data pipelines are implemented according to best practices and optimized for performance
- Create, contribute, and utilize version control software (GIT) to collaborate with the Content team
- Analyze data, create dashboards, and monitor data health metrics to provide insights that inform business decisions and understand overall product health
- Create and implement solutions for geospatial data editing, conflation, and quality control across a range of data storage solutions
- Produce results using a self-starter mentality through innovation and iteration
- Communicate complex geospatial concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Provide expertise in the development and implementation of geospatial databases within a graph ecosystem
- Research & evaluate geospatial data sources and make recommendations for new data sources or improvements to existing sources
- Collaborate with the onX Product team to identify functional projects, content requirements, and priorities
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors to ensure high-quality geospatial data sources and solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Previous experience with a product that goes beyond the screen and into the physical world
- Comfortable working in an undefined product space and/or experience with a net new product or feature
- Familiarity with trail data and the players in that space
- Passion for outdoor recreation activities
- Have experience working in and collaborating with a distributed team
- Self-starter with the ability to find solutions for unstructured problems
