Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Have at least 3-5 years of experience in leave administration or a related HR function, preferably in a large organization
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of federal and state leave laws, including FMLA, ADA, and other relevant regulations
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex policies and regulations
- Exhibit excellent communication skills (verbal and written), effectively interacting with employees at all levels
- Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients, their employees, managers, and benefits vendors regarding leave policies and procedures (Disability, FMLA, personal leave, military leave, company leave benefits, and state-specific requirements)
- Provide subject matter expertise and training to clients, Melita HR team members, and employees on leave policies and procedures
- Handle client leave of absence requests, make leave designations or recommendations, and oversee the process from initial notice to return-to-work
- Process leave and/or disability benefit requests, manage related communications, timelines, and paperwork, and resolve routine claims issues with vendor partners
- Facilitate employee departures, maintain communication with clients regarding leave, and relay information between employees, managers, and client HR contacts
- Collaborate with Benefits and/or Payroll teams to coordinate benefit and pay impacts during leave
- Address complex leave, disability/FMLA, and/or HRIS system issues
- Maintain accurate and complete records of leave and accommodation requests, adhering to legal requirements
- Maintain the Leave of Absence technology tool, track data, and report on LOA metrics and trends
Preferred Qualifications
- Be proficient in HRIS systems and leave management software
- Hold a certification in HR or leave management (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, Certified Leave Management Specialist)
