The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's preferred), 7+ years of relevant experience, and strong leadership skills. Success in this position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and effective communication with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Masterβs preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering with a strong focus on AWS technologies
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and scaling AWS cloud-native solutions
- Strong knowledge of cloud cost optimization, FinOps, and managing cloud budgets and expenses
- Expertise in DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and observability
- Experience implementing SRE principles to drive service reliability and performance
- Familiarity with AWS services like EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudFormation, and EKS
- Strong leadership and team management skills with experience driving cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of cloud engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Drive performance through goal-setting, career development, and effective team management
- Develop and implement cloud strategies that align with business objectives and support the transition to cloud-native environments
- Design and architect AWS cloud-native solutions utilizing services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EKS, and CloudFormation
- Promote the adoption of microservices, serverless, and containerized architectures to optimize resource utilization and scalability
- Lead the implementation and scaling of AWS cloud-native solutions, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery
- Ensure cloud solutions are cost-effective, secure, and scalable by leveraging AWS best practices
- Actively manage cloud resource usage and optimize for cost savings, implementing rightsizing, auto-scaling, and efficient resource allocation
- Collaborate with finance teams to implement FinOps practices, track cloud expenses, and manage cloud budgets effectively
- Develop and report on cloud cost optimization strategies, implementing chargeback or showback models as necessary
- Drive the adoption of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform) to streamline cloud operations
- Implement comprehensive observability (monitoring, logging, alerting) across cloud infrastructure and applications to ensure transparency and rapid response to issues
- Leverage tools like AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and DataDog to track performance and ensure proactive issue detection and resolution
- Embrace and implement SRE principles to ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of cloud services
- Focus on building systems that are fault-tolerant, highly available, and efficient under varying loads
- Establish service level objectives (SLOs), service level indicators (SLIs), and error budgets to measure and improve service reliability
- Ensure that cloud solutions adhere to industry best practices for security, compliance, and data privacy (AWS IAM, encryption, and vulnerability management)
- Implement security measures to safeguard cloud applications and data
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, product, and IT operations) to ensure alignment on cloud strategies and business goals
- Communicate technical solutions and cloud strategies effectively to stakeholders at all levels
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect β Professional or equivalent certifications
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and DataDog
