Summary
Join Airbnb's Security team as a Sr. Manager, Security Engineering and play a critical role in building and maintaining community trust. You will advance and scale technical preventions across production, corporate, and third-party environments, supporting Infrastructure and Application Security. This highly autonomous role requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to develop, plan, execute, and improve security measures. Success in this position demands a practical approach balancing business needs with security risks, fostering a culture of finding solutions rather than obstacles. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, extensive experience managing engineering functions, and a deep understanding of security methodologies. Requirements
- 8+ years managing people with at least 3 of those years supporting other managers
- Experience with AWS (GuardDuty, Lambda, Kinesis, S3, SNS, SQS, EC2, ...)
- Past experience in Software development
- Experience with Kubernetes or similar
- Demonstrated ability to support, scale, and advance like functions
- Deep understanding of strategic approaches and methodologies across the lifecycle of prevention, detection, response, and validation and how your teams fit in and are responsible for across these pillars and various programs that comprise Information Security
- Experience of disciplines spans corporate and product infrastructure as well as third party tooling and infrastructure
Responsibilities
- Advance and scale technical preventions across production, corp, and third-party environments
- Support the Infrastructure Security and Application Security functions with a focus on full tech stack security
- Partner with in-domain detection, response, and validation functions; program management, product management, technical leadership, and software engineering functions; and key cross-functional stakeholders
- Develop, plan, execute, measure, and improve relevant in-domain security areas
- Further define capabilities and/or establish new ones to continue maturing and scaling the technical protections within their area of responsibility
- Work in concert with complementary functions such as broader engineering functions, TPM, and relevant business partners
- Establish and drive the advancement of security protections in their space

- Effectively designed, scaled, and operated relevant functions in the past
- People and engineering leadership
- Security Experience
- Adjacent experience in Privacy, Trust and Safety, Integrity, etc. functions w/ similar problem spaces
