Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical design for automotive power electronics
  • Demonstrated experience in designing PDUs, PCBs, DC-DC converters, OBCs, inverters, and similar high-voltage components
  • Expert-level proficiency in CATIA for 3D modeling, drawings, and design documentation
  • Strong understanding of thermal management, vibration, EMC/EMI shielding, and environmental sealing
  • Clear and professional communication skills; ability to present proposals to clients and lead technical discussions
  • Proven experience working in cross-functional teams and in client-facing roles
  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and capable of managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Budget awareness with the ability to optimize designs for cost and manufacturing efficiency
  • Familiarity with automotive standards and regulations (ISO 26262, LV 124, etc.)
  • Must be willing and able to travel onsite to Van Buren Twp, MI on short notice as required

Responsibilities

  • Lead Mechanical Architecture Design for power electronic systems, including high-voltage systems, across a variety of vehicle platforms
  • Apply a strong DFM/DFA mindset to ensure designs are optimized for efficient manufacturing and assembly from concept through production
  • Develop and present mechanical design layouts based on client specifications; integrate feedback and provide expert-level consultation on design revisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, thermal, manufacturing, and systems engineers
  • Use CATIA extensively to develop and refine complex mechanical assemblies and packaging solutions
  • Perform and support testing activities to validate mechanical designs against performance, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure cost-efficiency and suggest improvements that reduce time-to-market and manufacturing expenses
  • Effectively communicate technical details to internal stakeholders and external clients, including executive-level presentations
  • Provide input and oversight on compliance, certification, and reliability testing for global markets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-voltage mechanical design
  • Experience with DFMEA, design validation, and automotive quality processes
  • Background in EV systems or electrified powertrain development
  • Experience working directly with OEM stakeholders like GM, Ford, Stellantis, etc
