Summary

Oklo is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team immediately. The engineer will be responsible for designing and verifying structural components, collaborating with other teams, providing technical feedback, identifying deficiencies, planning manufacturing and assembly, documenting work, and working with engineering analysis teams. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline, experience designing mechanical systems and products, proficiency in CAD software, and be self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator. Bonus qualifications include experience with engineering simulation software like ANSYS and fluency in Python. The salary range is $75,000-$154,000, and benefits include flexible time off, equity, competitive pay, 401k, health insurance, FSA, flexible work hours, and other benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or other engineering discipline
  • Experience designing mechanical systems and products
  • Experience in design for manufacturing
  • Proficiency in a CAD software

Responsibilities

  • Designing mechanical components and subsystems, including using CAD
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with other engineering teams to define design requirements and ensure the design meets those requirements
  • Providing technical feedback to other engineering design teams
  • Identifying deficiencies in mechanical designs and proactively making improvements
  • Planning for manufacturing and assembly of components and subsystems
  • Documenting work using modern tools and techniques, and writing well-written, thoughtful technical reports
  • Working with engineering analysis teams to support performing analyses, which can include thermal, stress, fatigue, tolerance, safety, manufacturability, and cost

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with engineering simulation software, such as ANSYS
  • Fluency in Python
