Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in mechanism design, electronics packaging, and knowledge of various types of motors, encoders, sensors, power transmission, and drive-train-related components such as gears, splines, lead screws, linear guides, harmonic drive actuators, etc
  • Highly driven self starter that shows ownership and accountability in their work
  • 5+ years of 3D CAD experience
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent, minimum requirement)
  • Proven experience designing and building mechanisms and assemblies, ideally with a background in robotics
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical analysis including modeling tolerance stacks, static and dynamic analysis, FEA and thermal analysis
  • Ability to be on-site at Agility’s design facility as needed (minimum 4 days per month if Bay Area based and as needed to support design activities, reviews, prototype testing, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Own the 3D and 2D design of mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Drive cross functional solutions to highly complex design challenges
  • Create and maintain high quality design documentation
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews
  • Own delivery of significant portions of the robot and robot peripherals
  • Drive the development of specifications, requirements, test methods and protocols through formal verification to ensure functionality, safety and efficacy of design
  • Mentor and coach more junior engineers
