Summary
Join Octopus Deploy as a Senior Product Designer on the Developer Experience (DevEx) team! You will work on projects reshaping developer workflows, driving efficiency and satisfaction. The role involves solving complex problems, advocating for developer-centric solutions, and crafting scalable designs for enterprise environments. This remote role, based in Australia or New Zealand, requires 5+ years of experience in product design, preferably in developer or technical infrastructure products. You will collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers in an agile environment. Requirements
- Have 5+ years of experience in a Product Design role, preferably in developer or technical infrastructure products
- Demonstrate a proven ability to use generative and evaluative research methods to generate valuable insights and translate them into actionable design solutions
- Have experience working alongside Product Managers and Engineers in an agile environment as a member of a product leadership trio
- Possess an understanding of daily developer workflows and experience with tools like IDEs, source control, builds, and deployment systems
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate and advocate for design decisions
- Have a portfolio showcasing success in designing for developer tooling or platforms, demonstrating your ability to solve complex problems and deliver impactful solutions
Responsibilities
- Conduct user research with the teamβs Product Manager such as interviews or usability testing to gather insights into developer workflows
- Collaborate with your Leadership Team to make UX scoping decisions
- Pair with a Software Engineer or another designer to solve a UX or UI challenge
- Facilitate a team workshop to uncover assumptions or conduct ideation
- Write and iterate on documentation, such as design specifications or user personas
- Work with our design system team to make contributions to shared components
- Mentor other designers and share your expertise with the team
Preferred Qualifications
- Have a software engineering background
- Have basic experience contributing to software or websites via code and committing to source control
- Have a strong understanding of software development concepts and shared component design
