Summary

Join Toast as a Lead Product Designer for Hardware and lead the design of end-to-end customer experiences for Toast hardware products, focusing on device setup, management, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver intuitive and efficient hardware experiences. Work closely with partners to identify and define user pain points, crafting innovative design solutions. Drive user research and testing to inform design iterations. Design within and help develop Toast guidelines and best practices. This role requires 4+ years of experience in product design and proficiency in design tools like Figma and Miro. The ideal candidate will also possess strong user-centered design principles, experience with user research, and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience in Product Design
  • Well-developed skills in Figma, Miro, and other design collaboration tools
  • Experience with designing workflows, making wireframes and mockups, building prototypes, and creating high-quality interface designs
  • Deep awareness of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards
  • Experience coordinating and conducting user research and usability testing to inform design decisions
  • Experience managing complexity and working with cross-functional teams to drive decisions
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and initiatives across multiple cross-functional stakeholder groups
  • Solid storytelling and presentation skills
  • Experience mentoring junior designers

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of end-to-end customer experiences for Toast hardware products, focused on topics like device setup, management, and troubleshooting
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team of Product Designers, Industrial Designers, and User Researchers to deliver hardware experiences that are intuitive, efficient, and delightful
  • Work closely with partners in Design, Product Management, and Engineering to identify and define user pain points, crafting innovative design solutions that improve workflows and drive measurable user outcomes
  • Drive qualitative and quantitative user research and testing to inform design iterations and ensure good outcomes for users and the business
  • Design within and help develop Toast guidelines, best practices, and standards

  • Experience designing for the complexities of connected hardware devices

  • Experience designing management dashboards
  • Experience designing troubleshooting wizards
