Summary

Join 1848 Ventures as a founding member of its Go-To-Market team to establish the Product-Led Growth function across its portfolio of ventures. You will define and execute strategies to accelerate user acquisition, retention, and revenue through product-driven experiences. This role involves close partnership with engineering to deploy in-product experiments and working with early-stage ventures to validate problem-solution fit and accelerate growth. You will also partner with the Growth Marketing function to align paid media, outreach, and sales-led motions with in-product conversion funnels. The position offers the opportunity to develop and champion a comprehensive Product-Led Growth (PLG) strategy, serve as the in-house PLG expert, and advise venture teams on go-to-market motions. This is a remote or hybrid role with potential travel.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in growth, product management, or marketing within a B2B SaaS environment
  • Strong expertise in PLG frameworks, subscription models, and SaaS retention strategies
  • Proficiency in data analytics, experimentation, and AARRR (Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Revenue, Referral) modeling, and a deep understanding of freemium and trial conversion models in SaaS
  • Demonstrable track record of building and scaling a B2B or B2C SaaS product using a Product-Led Growth model, with specific success in the SMB segment
  • Deep, hands-on experience with the modern PLG tech stack, including product analytics (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel), CRM, and user engagement tools (e.g., Appcues, Intercom)
  • Highly analytical and data-driven, with a talent for translating complex data sets into clear strategic recommendations and actionable experiments
  • A "doer" mentality, equally comfortable setting high-level strategy and rolling up your sleeves to implement tactics alongside early-stage teams
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence C-level executives

Responsibilities

  • Develop and champion a comprehensive Product-Led Growth (PLG) strategy for early stage companies, creating a standardized playbook for our portfolio of AI-powered B2B SaaS ventures
  • Serve as the in-house PLG expert, acting as a player-coach to guide and support venture teams from initial product concept through market testing and initial traction
  • Advise venture teams on go-to-market motions that prioritize product as the primary driver of customer acquisition, conversion, and expansion
  • Establish and report on key PLG metrics and KPIs (e.g., Activation Rate, PQLs, Time-to-Value, Net Revenue Retention) to studio leadership, providing insights and strategic recommendations
  • Design, implement, and optimize in-product experiments directly with engineering teams to observe, measure, and accelerate outcomes that impact KPIs
  • Architect and optimize automated, self-service customer acquisition funnels designed to convert prospective SMB customers with minimal-to-no human intervention
  • Assist venture teams as they design frictionless user onboarding experiences that rapidly guide new users to the core value proposition and their "Aha!" moment
  • Collaborate with venture teams to implement and test growth loops, viral mechanics, and referral programs embedded directly within the product experience
  • Design and implement website and landing page tests that accelerate early adoption of key product features, validating product hypotheses, and establishing usage metrics
  • Develop and test data-driven strategies for user activation, engagement, and retention, creating clear pathways that turn free users into paying customers
  • Partner with venture teams to model, test, and implement effective PLG-centric pricing and packaging strategies (e.g., freemium, free trials, usage-based tiers) tailored for the SMB market
  • Leverage in-product messaging, contextual nudges, and lifecycle marketing (email, push, etc.) to drive feature adoption, user success, and upsell opportunities
  • Design experimentation frameworks that demonstrate proven impact on usage, adoption, and conversion metrics to be used across all portfolio ventures
  • Create and foster a culture of continuous experimentation, utilizing A/B testing and product analytics to relentlessly optimize every stage of the user journey, from the first touchpoint to conversion, retention, and advocacy
  • Provide hands-on support to ventures, instrumenting analytics tools, mapping user journeys, configuring engagement tools, and analyzing funnel performance
  • Translate quantitative and qualitative user data into actionable product insights and roadmap priorities that directly fuel growth
