Summary
Join Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers' Data Products team as a Senior Product Manager! You will own the complete lifecycle of key data products, from initial concept to ongoing improvement. This role requires strong collaboration with various business units and technical teams to ensure data products meet both technical standards and business objectives. You'll leverage advanced analytics and AI technologies to create innovative solutions and champion a data-driven culture. Experience in data product management, analytics, and agile methodologies is essential. The position involves defining product requirements, managing roadmaps, and ensuring data quality and security.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience or equivalent experience in building data products to solve business problems with data and capabilities
- Proven experience in data product management, analytics, or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into effective data solutions
- Experienced in product discovery, including user research, interviews, and journey mapping
- Advanced in data analytics tools to track KPIs, identify insights, and inform decision-making
- Solid understanding of data warehousing, data governance, and BI platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience managing the full product lifecycle in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities
Responsibilities
- Define and manage data products (dashboards, self-service tools, semantic layers) from concept through launch
- Develop and maintain a clear product roadmap aligned with business objectives and customer needs
- Establish product requirements and success metrics, ensuring every release is data-informed and customer-centric
- Act as the primary liaison between business units (Product, Finance, Marketing, etc.) and the Data Products and Engineering teams
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and BI teams to integrate and optimize data solutions
- Gather market and stakeholder insights to inform product decisions and drive continuous improvement
- Enforce data governance policies and best practices to ensure data quality, security, and consistency
- Champion agile methodologies for iterative development, rapid release cycles, and responsiveness to evolving business needs
- Provide training, documentation, and support to enable embedded analysts and promote self-service analytics
- Leverage advanced analytics and AI, including Generative AI and LLMs, to enhance data products and drive actionable insights
- Integrate AI-driven insights into dashboards and self-service tools to create innovative, high-impact solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in roles that require close alignment between business and technical teams
- Degree (or higher) in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Familiarity with online marketplaces or digital business environments
- Experience leveraging AI technologies to enhance data products is a plus
