Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Summary

Join Rackspace Technology as a Cloud Engineer and leverage your expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to deliver innovative solutions for our clients. You will own key deliverables, collaborate with stakeholders, and create frameworks for optimal solutions. This role demands hands-on experience with DevOps tools, infrastructure design, and coding. You will work directly with customers and prospects, mentoring less experienced team members. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in Site Reliability and DevOps within cloud environments, along with proficiency in GCP services and various programming languages. This is a remote position.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field
• Have a minimum of 8+ years of experience in supporting Site Reliability, DevOps, Infrastructure, and handling on-call duties within Cloud environments, with a preference for experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Be proficient in managing GCP services, including Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Compute Engine (GCE), Networking, Security, CI/CD pipelines, and other common Cloud technologies
• Have proven experience working with very large-scale applications, computer systems, and networks
• Be proficient in Linux, TCP/IP, HTTP, MAIL protocols, DNS, content delivery networks (CDN), load balancers, and troubleshooting techniques
• Be proficient in constructing Infrastructure as Code (IAC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Helm Charts
• Be proficient in programming using Python, Golang, or Java, along with the ability to build CI/CD pipelines for deploying services in these languages

Responsibilities

• Own and complete key tasks and deliverables, and collaborate with others to define and implement optimal, complete solutions based on stakeholder’s needs
• Deliver solutions that solve for new levels of complexity, scale, and performance, and in turn, enable breakthrough innovations
• Create and apply frameworks, methods, best practices, and artifacts that deliver prescriptive guidance to customers, and publish and present them in large forums and across various media platforms
• Possess technical depth and hands-on implementation experience of various practices and tools in the DevOps toolchain
• Be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to design and code modules for infrastructure, application, and processes
• Administer and maintain cloud infrastructure, including on-call support, monitoring, security best practices, automation, deployment, and the formulation of reusable cloud infrastructure via (IAC) Terraform

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience with cloud databases and storage platforms, such as Storage Services (GCS), Cloud SQL, Spanner, and Firestore
• Have experience building transaction processing systems (OLTP) and/or larger scale analytics (OLAP)
• Have experience with Machine Learning and AI platforms, such as Vertex AI, Generative AI, Big Query, Looker and DataProc
