Senior Software Engineer

Summary

Join Airbnb's Content Integrity team and play a crucial role in combating online fraud and ensuring platform safety. You will design, implement, and operate scalable systems to detect and mitigate fraudulent activities like fake reviews and scam messages. This involves leveraging machine learning models (BERT and LLMs) to analyze text, image, and video content. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for business impact and improve system efficiency. The role requires significant experience in building high-traffic products and a strong understanding of machine learning. Requirements

• 6+ years industry experience
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• Experience in building and scaling high-quality and high-traffic products (or systems)
• Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems
• Ability to drive alignment, manage projects and effectively collaborate with stakeholders
• Mentorship to junior developers

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate resilient and scalable distributed systems
• Drive projects from ideation, design, and implementation to testing, deployment, monitoring, and release
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners including software engineers, product managers, operations and data scientists to identify opportunities for business impact, understand, refine, and prioritize requirements for machine learning models, drive engineering decisions, and quantify impact
• Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, scalability, efficiency, and efficacy of our defenses and drive their implementation
• Advocate and participate in efforts to advance Airbnb’s engineering processes and technical foundations

Preferred Qualifications

• Fraud experience is a plus, but not required
• Content understanding experience is a plus, but not required
• Experience with machine learning model development is a plus, but not required
