Summary

Join Airbnb's growing team as a highly skilled backend engineer. You will play a key role in building a company-wide user-centric platform and products, architecting a merchandising system, and leading a team of engineers. This is a multi-year effort to build a system from scratch, solving ambiguous problems and delivering high-quality work through multiple releases. You will provide critical input, influence technical direction, and collaborate with cross-functional partners. The position is US-remote eligible, with occasional office work or offsites. Compensation includes a competitive salary, bonus, equity, benefits, and employee travel credits.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of industry experience as backend engineer, inclusive MS or PhD in relevant fields
  • Experience in building and scaling high-quality and high-traffic products (or systems)
  • Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems
  • Ability to drive alignment, manage projects and effectively collaborate with stakeholders
  • Mentorship to junior developers

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical input and be able to influence technical direction
  • Influence and collaborate with stakeholders to adopt team goals and roadmaps
  • Work with cross functional partners (product managers, MLEs, DS, Analytics etc) to design and deliver high-quality systems
  • Design and implement backend service to drive organic bookings and improve user experience
  • Lead efforts to architect, prototype, build and launch solutions for host or listing success
  • Mentor engineers on day to day basis to ensure quality and directions, both within and outside of the team
