Senior Software Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Senior Software Engineer in Dutchie's pricing and discounts team. The role involves contributing to core applications, collaborating with the engineering team, mentoring other engineers, and working closely with the Product team. The ideal candidate should have experience with backend server languages, Ruby, relational and non-relational databases, and distributed systems.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of backend server languages (Ruby/Node/Python/C#/etc.) and general software best practices
• Experience with Ruby, relational and non-relational databases, and working in distributed systems
• You have experience designing and extending scalable data models and the data stores they depend on
• Your code is clean, tested, organized, and elegant
• Self-starter - you're proactive and are able to start projects and tasks without constant direction
• Quick learner - you pick up new frameworks and technologies quickly
• Great communication skills
• You want to work in a flexible environment - we move quickly and ship code often
• 8+ years of development experience

Responsibilities

• Contribute to core applications in Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, PostgreSQL and React within high-scale, distributed systems
• Work closely with our Product team in scoping and refining customer-facing features
• Mentor and coach other engineers
• Collaborate with the team to plan and estimate work
• Positively contribute to our culture and our processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Have built software in the cannabis, pricing or discounts space
• Have experience building and monitoring infrastructure on cloud-native hosting providers (AWS)
• Have deep experience with third-party integrations
