Summary

Join Neo4j's Sales Engineering team as a technology expert, working directly with customers in diverse industries and a wide range of technologies and architectures. You will provide engineering and architecture leadership and development for Neo4j-based solutions. Responsibilities include understanding customer needs, transforming those needs into an architecture using Neo4j's graph database technology, and guiding all parties through the sales process. You will demonstrate Neo4j's capabilities, design solution architectures, and engage with technical decision-makers. This role focuses on government agencies and public sector organizations but also involves a broad range of Neo4j customers and verticals. The position requires strong technical skills, experience with database technologies, and excellent communication abilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years working in a presales or professional services organisation
  • Skilled in customer discovery, and the ability to uncover root causes of customer pain points and map these to a technical solution
  • Experience working with government agencies and public sector organisations
  • Excellent understanding and demonstrable experience with database technologies and data modelling concepts, ideally with NoSQL stores
  • Architecture skills - i.e. mapping a business to technical requirements and understanding multiple components to build a solution
  • Software engineering experience
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (eg. Java, Python, Javascript)
  • Ability to engage and interact with engineers in an advisory role
  • Comfortable and quick with learning new technologies as needed
  • Passionate about solving technical problems
  • Capable of educating and training small groups
  • Strong understanding of the sales process
  • A proactive approach to keeping the technical aspects of a sales process on track
  • Industry vertical experience in Government and ideally one or more of: Financial Services, Retail, Security or Pharmaceutical, Supply Chain, Manufacturing
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, self-directed and remotely in a cross-functional organisation
  • Ability and willingness to travel

Responsibilities

  • Working with our customers’ teams, you’ll lead and contribute to all phases of the Neo4j PreSales projects
  • Be an integral part of the Neo4j sales team, helping to persuade prospective Neo4j users of the benefits and advantages of graph database technology
  • Position the Neo4j technology within the customer’s environment and architecture
  • Discuss solution architectures with our customers to address the technical requirements of our customers’ projects
  • Design and build prototype solutions that demonstrate required functionality with Neo4j
  • Help prepare solution proposals for our customer’s engineering and management teams that help address the overall project goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current active security clearance (SC or higher) preferred, or demonstrated ability to obtain clearance based on previous security clearance history
  • Graph DB related experience i.e. Neo4j, other property graph or RDF platform, Gaffer, etc. is ideal
  • Data Science, AI/ML, RAG / LLM optimisation
  • Data integration: ETL, Virtualisation, federation
  • BI and data visualisation (Tableau, Qlik, viz libraries: D3, viz.js , Linkurious...)
