Summary

Join our team as a Principal/Staff mechanical engineer to lead the design of the next generation of Digit for commercial scale, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust and production-ready robot designs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in mechanism design, packaging, and knowledge of various types of motors, encoders, sensors, power transmission, and drive-train-related components such as gears, splines, lead screws, linear guides, harmonic drive actuators, etc
  • 10+ years of mechanical design experience with 2+ years of robotics design
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent, minimum requirement)
  • Proven experience designing and building mechanisms and assemblies, ideally with a background in robotics
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical analysis including modeling tolerance stacks, static and dynamic analysis, FEA and thermal analysis
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and team development
  • Ability to be on-site at Agility’s design facility as needed (minimum 4 days per month and as needed to support design activities, reviews, prototype testing, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Act as a mechanical engineering architect and lead major subsystem design
  • Own architecture, design, implementation, testing, and commercialization for relevant hardware subsystems
  • Drive engineering specifications from product requirements and work cross functionally to align engineering specifications with different domains (electrical, mechanical, industrial design, software, test, manufacturing etc.)
  • Create subsystem CAD and ensure quality
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews
  • Drive the development of specifications, requirements, test methods and protocols through formal verification to ensure functionality, safety and efficacy of design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Robotics experience and leadership in a robotics organization
  • Advanced degree in engineering or science or robotics
  • Jira/Confluence experience
  • PLM and PDM experience
  • Creo experience
