Remote Senior Staff Product Designer

Summary

Join us in our mission to make it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games. As a Sr. Staff Designer, you'll define design quality within Discord Design, collaborate across teams, and craft intuitive experiences for app developers and users.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing consumer-facing products
• Experience in leading designers or teams at an initiative level
• Confidence in your ability to execute, and coach others in making design decisions, leading discussions, and communicating out to the wider organization
• Strong, pro-active communication skills, forming ideas and presenting them to your cross-functional team to develop product strategy and roadmaps
• A desire to deeply understand the 'why' before defining the 'how' and use it to develop a strategic product perspective, and vision
• A high level of design craft, and a commitment to maintaining a high bar for design implementation as you see work through from design iterations to detailed documentation, and QA
• Experience working with, and contributing to a design system

Responsibilities

• Craft the standard for visual caliber and quality within Discord
• Lead vision-setting initiatives across teams, bringing diverse product ideas into one cohesive vision with tactical design deliverables
• Partner with the Platform Ecosystems Design Director to lead team rituals, introduce new ways of working, and eliminate design debt and inconsistencies within the product
• Operate as a player-coach, owning the direction, design decisions, and quality bar for your own work, while providing mentorship and direct feedback in service of other’s work
• Detangle and simplify the Apps user experience, using wire-frames, user journeys, prototypes to deliver intuitive product experiences that lead to higher App trial and re-engagement
• Actively mold the design organization — collaborating with design leadership to own and deliver design-wide programs to establish new ways of working and craft standards
