Summary

Join NBCUniversal's Enablement team as a Senior Staff Software Engineer and help empower developers with the resources and support they need to thrive. You will leverage data-driven insights to improve developer efficiency, create documentation and self-service solutions, and provide coaching. Partnering with engineering teams and leadership, you'll deliver impactful services and tools. This role requires a systems-thinking approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence change. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years working with software development teams (less is acceptable depending on degree or experience)
  • Expertise with DevOps culture and practices (continuous learning, improvement, feedback, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of software development processes and methodologies
  • Strong grasp of survey design, data analysis, and visualization techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to influence and drive change through experimentation
  • Demonstrates strong empathy and understanding of others' perspectives
  • Capable of building meaningful relationships and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment
  • Uses emotional awareness to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and resolve conflicts

Responsibilities

  • Understand and improve the developer experience at NBCU using scientific, research-oriented methods
  • Identify and implement improvements, using data to track success or pivot
  • Partner with Engineering Experience teams, NBCU developers, and engineering leadership to deliver services, tools, and processes
  • Navigate ambiguity, break down complex problems, and create scalable solutions
  • Influence change by building trust and connecting with others through storytelling
  • Foster communities of learning, providing safe spaces for developers to learn and grow

Preferred Qualifications

  • Effective program management skills
  • Advanced skills in various research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative research methods, experimental design, data collection techniques, and statistical analysis)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Python, cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), database systems, and SQL
  • Awareness of various learning and teaching techniques (visual vs. auditory learning, active vs. passive learning) to develop effective training materials
  • Instructional design skills
  • Ability to work in a team with open and collaborative communication
  • Passion for continuous learning and improvement
  • Provide mentorship to grow the technical skills and careers of others
