Senior Systems Engineer (SRE / Infrastructure)

Summary

Join Third Eye Software as a Senior-Level Engineer to contribute to a high-performing team responsible for a critical API platform. This fully remote W2 contract position offers a competitive hourly rate ($70–$75) and the potential for extension. The role requires extensive experience in infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, and networking, with a strong emphasis on Linux systems, GCP cloud infrastructure, automation, and networking. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Terraform, Docker, Git/GitHub Actions, scripting (Bash, Python, or Go), Linux administration, networking, and Prometheus/Grafana. Requirements

• Have 5+ years of professional experience in roles such as Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Infrastructure Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Systems Engineer
• Possess hands-on expertise in Terraform (core to platform automation)
• Demonstrate deep fluency in Docker (inspecting containers, logs, and performance)
• Be proficient in Git/GitHub Actions
• Have scripting experience in Bash, Python, or Go (only one is required)
• Possess Linux system administration and tuning skills
• Have general networking knowledge (OSI layers 2-7)
• Be familiar with cloud platforms (any cloud required; GCP preferred)
• Have experience with Prometheus and Grafana (metrics, alerting, SLO/SLI awareness)
• Be proficient in JSON/YAML
• Work exclusively on this role (no concurrent job engagements)
• Maintain camera on during working hours
• Work from a professional, distraction-free environment located within the U.S

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the API platform
• Collaborate with the engineering team to scale the API platform
• Develop and implement automation solutions using Terraform
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the API platform
• Monitor system performance and implement improvements
• Work with various cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
• Utilize Prometheus and Grafana for metrics, alerting, and SLO/SLI awareness

Preferred Qualifications

• Have strong preference for individuals who’ve worked in high-scale, high-availability environments
• Have experience with: Alertmanager, Ansible, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Looker
• Have familiarity with: Envoy Proxy
• Have understanding of: Go code (reading, not necessarily writing)
• Possess a FinOps mindset or exposure to cloud cost optimization
• Own your work, speak up early, and admit mistakes
• Not be afraid to challenge ideas and handle direct feedback well
• Be a quick learner and ask smart questions
• Be ready to share your voice
