This newly created role focuses on international direct tax compliance, ensuring HubSpot's compliance across multiple jurisdictions and supporting the company's rapid growth. You will manage local tax provisions, support international tax compliance operations, prepare reconciliations, and liaise with global tax advisors. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities, develop internal controls, and educate the broader tax team. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Global Compliance and Operations and offers the opportunity to contribute to a best-in-class tax compliance and operations team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required, masters in tax, accounting or CPA is required
- 6+ years of experience in public accounting and/or a U.S. multinational company required
- Strong tax technical base with particular focus on international tax. Working understanding of ASC 740, and GAAP to Stat differences
- Experience with NetSuite preferred or another major ERP required
- Willingness to roll-up your sleeves when work needs to get done
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Self-driven, self-starter, goal oriented, and someone who can work independently to identify process improvements and drive the team to implement
- Strong oral and written skills with excellent communication
- Ability to research issues, document conclusions, and communicate findings
- Ability to work well with others, including as part of cross-functional teams and locations
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the evolution of our Tax function by enabling HubSpot’s Finance organization to build the best in class tax compliance and operations team
- Manage local tax provision computations and required local disclosures for international statutory financial statements
- Support the international tax compliance operations, including filing of corporate income tax returns, withholding tax returns, digital service tax returns, corporate tax prepayments, and other relevant tax filings globally
- Prepare international return to provision reconciliations in close alignment with the Global Planning and Reporting group
- Support Global Planning and Reporting group in the preparation of US GAAP foreign tax provision, GILTI computations and other US international tax processes
- Liaise with global tax advisors to ensure timeliness and accuracy of deliverables and billings and communicate status updates and emerging issues within Tax Leadership
- Manage and support international tax audits and tax authority inquiries
- Partner with our tax Global Planning & Reporting team to keep up to date with all legislative updates that affect the business, ensuring proactive strategies that can be implemented in a timely manner
- Support and document various tax matters relating to HubSpot’s global structure to ensure compliance with operational goals
- Advice on adoption of best in class tax tech tools & processes. We want tools that are unified, easy to use, produce fast results as we solve for internal and external stakeholders and customers
- Collaborate with stakeholder groups across the business to identify risks and opportunities associated with new business initiatives and existing operations
- Educate the broader tax team on these risks and opportunities as we endeavour to be learn it alls (not know it alls)
- Develop, maintain and document internal controls that adhere to SOX compliance, ensuring continued compliance with local regulations and tax laws
Preferred Qualifications
- ONESOURCE proficiency preferred
- Working knowledge of data wrangling tools (such as Alteryx) preferred
- Technology/SaaS experience preferred
