Senior Technical Designer

Summary

The job is for a Senior Technical Designer at Digital Extremes. The role involves designing and implementing game modes, quests, AI, and events, collaborating with other departments, and mentoring Junior Technical Designers. The incumbent should have 5+ years of experience in game design/development, a university or college degree in computer science, game design/development, or equivalent game development experience, strong proficiency in Lua or similar scripting language, basic knowledge of C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio, good communication & problem solving skills.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in game design/development
• A university or college degree in computer science, game design/development, or equivalent game development experience
• Strong proficiency in Lua or similar scripting language
• Basic knowledge of C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new game modes, quests, AI, and events
• Collaborate with designers, level designers, and other departments to iterate on features
• Assist other designers with reproducing and fixing bugs
• Be willing and available for firefighting
• Contribute to a positive work environment by getting involved with all departments, understanding their roles and interacting with the team on a regular basis to help gain a rounded perspective of the project
• Mentor Junior Technical Designers

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with a commercial game engine (Unity, Unreal, etc.)
• Experience working on projects with live service production schedules
• Experience with multiplayer/networked games
