Summary

Join Lakshya Digital, a Keywords Studios company, as a Senior Technical Level Designer for a fully remote 6-month freelance contract (with possible extension) starting June 2025. This role requires experience scripting narrative and gameplay sequences in Unreal Engine 4 or 5 using Blueprints, delivering level content from concept to completion, and prototyping level-based features. You will design and maintain Editor Utility Widgets and Blueprint Construction Scripts, solve technical problems, and collaborate across teams. The ideal candidate will identify and propose solutions for level design pipeline friction points, translate design requirements into long-term features and tool ideas, and mentor other designers. Working within UK timezone hours is preferred but not required. This position offers a fully remote work environment.

Requirements

  • Experience scripting narrative and gameplay sequences in Unreal 4 or 5 using Blueprints
  • Proven ability to own and deliver level content from concept through to completion
  • Experience prototyping level-based features and breaking down narrative and gameplay into clear implementation steps
  • Ability to design and maintain Editor Utility Widgets and Blueprint Construction Scripts to support efficient workflows
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and comfort working across design, programming, and tools teams
  • Experience identifying friction points in level design pipelines and proposing scalable solutions
  • Confident collecting design requirements and translating them into long-term feature and tool ideas
  • Skilled communicator and collaborator, capable of mentoring other level designers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with level streaming systems such as Levels, Data Layers, and other modular tech is a bonus
  • Familiarity with source control tools and production workflows
  • Proactive, self-directed, and eager to contribute to tools, pipelines, and process improvements
