Summary

Join Sealed, a climate tech company, as a Senior UX Designer to contribute to our mission of stopping home energy waste and electrifying homes. You will play a crucial role in connecting our engineering team with users, conducting research and design iterations, shadowing sales calls, reviewing product metrics, and partnering with the product team. This role involves working on a two-sided platform serving contractors and government programs, requiring you to navigate both technical and policy aspects of residential energy efficiency. The position offers a remote or hybrid work option, with the possibility of working in our NYC office. Sealed is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Requirements

  • Apply your valuable design skills to a serious world problem (climate) and a perennially thorny solution space (residential energy efficiency)
  • Be comfortable and experienced with smaller teams or early stage products and enjoy broad ownership and varied responsibilities
  • Connect with the needs of our often tech-ambivalent contractor users who aren’t always excited to add a new app to their toolbelt, but do love that we are solving their root problems
  • Spot the patterns across sometimes-rigid government programs and help design product solutions which are flexible and high-leverage
  • See design as a pragmatic craft centered on understanding the user and the software and finding the most effective point of intersection between the two
  • Have enough experience to pattern match and help us navigate, but not so much that you mind getting into the weeds and getting done what needs doing

Responsibilities

  • Connect the engineering team to the users, understanding our strategy and challenges, and identifying design solutions
  • Do the research, design, and iteration to keep our roadmap projects moving on schedule and landing with impact
  • Shadow sales and account management calls either online or in the field to understand their needs
  • Review product metrics and LogRockets to identify the biggest opportunities for improvement and then propose them as roadmap projects or smaller opportunistic refinements
  • Partner with the product team to ensure and maintain a high bar on user experience throughout the planning and release lifecycle
  • Shape our team’s design and broader product & eng processes

Preferred Qualifications

Be located in the NYC area and enjoy joining our in-person office crew

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary & Equity
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits
  • Flexible remote-first culture, with optional office space in NYC for folks who want to work together IRL
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401(k)
  • Pre-Tax FSA Health / Dependent Care Savings Plans
