Summary

Join BuzzFeed's year-long SEO Editorial Fellowship, a paid program for aspiring writers to hone their skills and create engaging content. Fellows will work with experienced team members, pitch ideas, write articles for BuzzFeed.com, and learn SEO best practices. Requirements

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to write quickly, clearly, and engagingly on a variety of topics
  • Curiosity and excitement about digital media, SEO, and content strategy (no formal SEO experience required — we’ll teach you!)
  • A genuine, wide-eyed love of pop culture and internet trends in all their forms, especially TV, movies, entertainment, and lifestyle
  • Comfort working with data and willingness to dig into numbers to understand what’s working (and why)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • A collaborative, proactive attitude and an eagerness to learn and grow
  • A track record of meeting deadlines and handling multiple projects at once

Responsibilities

  • Pitch, research, and write engaging SEO-driven content across various topics (news, entertainment, lifestyle, viral trends, etc.) — both timely and evergreen
  • Collaborate with editors and writers to ensure content meets SEO best practices while maintaining BuzzFeed’s unique voice and tone
  • Use SEO tools and data to identify new content opportunities
  • Update and refresh existing evergreen articles to maintain traffic and search rankings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SEO and tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Google Trends, or Google Search Console
  • Experience writing for online audiences (college newspaper, personal blog, internships, etc.)
  • Interest in evergreen content formats like how-tos, explainers, lists, and roundups
