Simulation Engineer

Muon Space
Summary
Join Muon Space as a Simulation Engineer and contribute to the development of cutting-edge simulation tools for spacecraft systems. You will model physics across various domains, integrate simulations with flight software and hardware, and design a Digital Twin system. Responsibilities include developing tools for large-scale cloud-based simulations, visualization tools, and conducting analyses. Success in this role requires expertise in numerical programming and multidisciplinary modeling, along with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments and has a passion for creating efficient and user-friendly tools. Muon offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and parental leave.
Requirements
- B.S. or higher degree in an engineering field plus 5 years of experience in a related field, preferably with exposure to spacecraft systems, orbital mechanics, and simulation techniques
- Expertise in common numerical programming environments (Julia, NumPy/SciPy, MATLAB)
- A track record of multidisciplinary modeling of physical systems
- Extensive experience running simulations associated with vehicle development
- Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination skills
- A preference for fast-paced, dynamic work environments
Responsibilities
- Model physics in a variety of domains (mechanical, electrical, thermal, radio) and at a variety of fidelities
- Integrate our sim with flight software and hardware
- Help design and implement our Digital Twin system to answer the question, βWhat is our best estimate of spacecraft state (position, orientation, state of charge, actuator states, software state, etc.) at a given point in time in the future or past?β
- Demonstrate successful patterns for using the sim to answer questions to make users more effective
- Lower the barrier to entry for new users so more people can quickly ask and answer questions with sim
- Develop tools for large, cloud-based sets of sim runs
- Develop visualization tools
- Own several different analyses for different spacecraft (be your own end user)
- Understand sim usersβ needs and make development plans according to priority and program schedules
Preferred Qualifications
Spacecraft experience
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- A 401k retirement plan
- Short & long term disability and life insurance
- Three weeks paid vacation for new employees
- 12 paid holidays
