📍Remote - Canada

Summary

Join Docker's remote-first team as a part-time contractor for 6-7 months to help grow their developer audience. You will create and manage organic content for social media, engage with developer communities, and provide editorial leadership. The ideal candidate is a developer with 3-5+ years of experience in developer content, social media, or dev advocacy. Responsibilities include content creation and strategy, community engagement and listening, and voice and editorial leadership. You will also analyze content performance and identify growth opportunities. This role requires exceptional copywriting skills and experience engaging with online technical communities.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in developer content, social media, or dev advocacy — ideally inside a dev tools, OSS, or SaaS org
  • You are a developer who’s built or shipped apps and used Docker in real-world workflows
  • Deep knowledge of developer platforms, tools, workflows, and subcultures
  • Experience creating content that performs on platforms like LinkedIn, Reddit, and YouTube
  • Exceptional copywriting skills — fast, funny, technical, and clear
  • Self-starter with high creative energy, strong judgment, and a collaborative spirit
  • Experience engaging with online technical communities (e.g., Discord, Reddit, GitHub discussions)

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage Docker’s developer-focused organic content pipeline for social media — including memes, threads, explainers, carousels, short-form video scripts, and live commentary
  • Write sharp, concise, and voice copy that reflects the Docker brand and a point of view: technical, smart, funny, and culturally fluent
  • Collaborate across teams to surface stories and amplify strategic initiatives
  • Show up authentically in dev spaces — Reddit, Discord, LinkedIn, GitHub, etc. — to engage, learn, and contribute
  • Monitor developer conversations and translate community insights into content opportunities and product feedback
  • Build relationships with influential developers and creators across platforms
  • Bring a consistent, confident, and opinionated voice to Docker’s content
  • Develop editorial POVs on industry trends, developer pain points, and emerging conversations
  • Maintain an agile, real-time cadence that responds to what developers care about today
  • Analyze content performance to inform content types, formats, and posting cadence
  • Run content experiments to test headlines, formats, tones, and styles
  • Identify growth loops and user-generated content opportunities to scale developer engagement
  • Immerse yourself in Docker’s products, roadmap, and brand voice
  • Integrate into all current content workflows — assist with copywriting, selecting memes, community responses, and injecting developer POV into active campaigns
  • Audit our social presence and community spaces to identify gaps and opportunities
  • Begin engaging on social channels under the Docker brand
  • Propose your first batch of content ideas and run 1–2 quick wins to build momentum
  • Build an ongoing editorial calendar based on dev priorities, product launches, and cultural moments
  • Launch a steady cadence of high-performing, original content across core platforms
  • Begin building developer relationships and identifying creators/influencers to partner with
  • Establish a tone guide and content formats aligned with developer trends and Docker's voice
  • Launch 1–2 experiments based on audience behavior
  • Ship your first full content series and performance report
  • Present your strategy to exec stakeholders, with data, content wins, and next-gen ideas
  • Start laying the foundation for an owned audience and long-term programs
