Summary

Join Mercy For Animals as a social media contractor for their Transfarmation™ project! This remote, US-based role involves creating and managing content across various social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook), collaborating with the digital marketing team, and engaging with the social media community. You will research relevant trends, write blog posts, analyze metrics, and stay updated on industry news. The ideal candidate possesses at least three years of experience in social media advocacy or a related field, excellent communication skills, and a passion for sustainable farming. The contract duration and hourly rate are determined based on experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years’ experience in social media advocacy, farmer advocacy, or a closely related field
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Passion for regenerative agriculture, agroecology, or sustainable farming
  • Interest in creating a just, equitable, and sustainable food system through collaboration and movement building, especially with farmers raising animals in industrial facilities
  • Thorough knowledge of or willingness to learn existing and emerging social media channels
  • Thorough knowledge of or willingness to learn social media measurement software, tools, and procedures
  • Knowledge of social media design layouts and willingness to learn new design skills and software
  • Ability to communicate ideas and concepts to the creative team and give constructive and mission-driven feedback
  • Support for Transfarmation’s philosophy and ability to professionally advocate Transfarmation’s positions
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Transfarmation farms or conferences if needed
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Mercy For Animals
  • Commitment to continued personal and organizational growth in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage content for Transfarmation’s social channels, specifically Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Facebook
  • Collaborate with the digital marketing team
  • Manage and engage Transfarmation’s social media community through social listening and replying to comments
  • Research value-aligned organizations and engage with their content or share it on Transfarmation’s social channels
  • Write timely and compelling content for Transfarmation’s blog
  • Track analytics across Transfarmation’s social platforms and blog
  • Keep abreast of the latest social media trends, including hashtags, memes, and viral campaigns
  • Stay apprised of local, national, and international news stories relating to Transfarmation’s mission
  • Perform any other duties assigned by team leader
