Social Media Intern

Summary

Join AccuWeather's Social Media Team as a Summer 2024 Social Media Intern! This paid, 5-month internship (20-30 hours/week) offers hands-on experience in social media management and digital content creation. You'll assist in managing social media strategies across multiple platforms, creating engaging content, analyzing data, and interacting with followers. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, social media expertise, and a passion for weather. Morning and daytime availability is preferred, with some evening flexibility. This role provides valuable experience in a dynamic media environment.

Requirements

• Pursuing a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing or a related field that requires experience in writing
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms
• Basic image editing knowledge
• Must be able to develop an understanding of basic scientific and meteorological concepts, in order to explain them to our audience
• Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, team-oriented and work well under pressure
• Must have excellent verbal and communication skills
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

• Sourcing, finding UGC (User-Generated Content) and getting usage permission from owners
• Pitching daily weather-related content ideas for social media posts
• Coordinating multiple sources, feeds and personnel contributing to our Social channels
• Monitoring all Social Networks for testimonials, questions, comments, and user-generated content
• Engaging with those users and interacting with appropriate internal departments for resolution
• Analyzing data about AccuWeather and its competitors from a variety of internal and external Social Media Analytics tools
• Researching changes to new and existing Social Networks via industry blogs and news and online webinars
• Creating trend reports of the most-talked-about weather-related topics and culturally relevant conversations
• Other duties as assigned
