Summary

Join Middle Seat, a digital consulting firm supporting progressive causes, as a Social Media & Texting intern for Fall 2025. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in digital communications, fundraising, and mobilization. You will assist with text message production and quality assurance, social media copywriting, reporting, and content creation (videos and graphics). The role can be performed remotely or in our Washington, D.C. office. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, detail-oriented, and passionate about progressive politics. The internship is full-time (40 hours/week) and pays $20/hour.

Requirements

  • Be excited by the idea of working for progressive clients doing great work on the ground
  • Be a strong writer with correct grammar and self-proofreading skills
  • Be detail-oriented, organized, and be able to assist our team in ensuring top quality for final products
  • Constantly scroll social media for new trends and enjoy consuming & creating content
  • Be technically adept and pick up new tools easily
  • Follow your favorite candidates on social media and subscribe to their fundraising programs
  • Be in your final year of an undergraduate program or be a recent graduate
  • Be committed to working for progressive political candidates and causes
  • Be a team player
  • Follow along with the news of the day, particularly an understanding of the U.S. political system as well as key progressive issues
  • Be able to commit to full-time (40-hour work week) or near full-time availability, with consistent hours each week

Responsibilities

  • Assist with text message production and quality assurance
  • Take the first stab at copywriting for social posts and texts
  • Compile social media reporting and monitoring through SproutSocial
  • Create short-form videos or graphics
  • Complete administrative tasks
  • Other responsibilities as requested

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a background in social media management and demonstrate an understanding of best practices for platforms like Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and more
  • Have experience in or exposure to digital fundraising
  • Have worked on a political campaign, advocacy organization, or nonprofit
  • Have experience with graphic design (from Canva to Adobe) and light video editing (in-app editing on TikTok or Instagram included!)
