Summary

Join Coalition's CoalitionRe Team as a frontend engineer and become the primary authority for frontend development. Contribute to well-tested, maintainable, and extensible code while extending and improving the existing CoalitionRe service. Collaborate with the Product Team to clarify requirements and provide feedback. Participate in on-call rotation, though infrequent. This role offers opportunities to learn the backend stack and transition to a full-stack engineer. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a disciplined approach to work, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field with at least three years of work experience, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and modern frontend frameworks (React or preferably htmx.)
  • Experience working closely with UI/UX designers and product management
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively convey engineering-related topics to team members – a lot of it asynchronously
  • A collaborative and team-oriented mindset, capable of working effectively in a diverse and fast-paced environment
  • Effective problem-solving skills to analyze and debug code
  • Curiosity to learn and openness to feedback
  • Autonomous and disciplined approach to work

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to code: tested, maintainable, extensible, but pragmatic
  • Extend and improve the existing CoalitionRe service
  • Become the primary authority for frontend related development for the CoalitionRe service
  • Interface with Product Team (e.g. to clarify requirements, provide feedback on required effort, alternative solutions, process improvements)
  • On-Call rotation participation (this means a regular expectation to respond to incidents outside of regular working hours – it happens rarely and we’d like to keep it that way.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of backend and database technologies, particularly Python and Postgres
  • Any general knowledge of the insurance industry (particularly re-insurance.)

Benefits

  • 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Flexible PTO
  • Annual home office stipend and WeWork access
  • Mental & physical health wellness programs like Headspace, Lumino, and more!
  • Competitive compensation and opportunity for advancement
