Summary

Join Supercritical's engineering team as a Software Engineer and contribute to building and improving our carbon removal marketplace product. You will work across the full stack, collaborating with product, design, and subject matter experts. Responsibilities include understanding requirements, writing maintainable code, designing database models, participating in code reviews, deploying features, and contributing to a growing engineering culture. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the stack, has experience with frontend and backend development, and possesses a quality mindset. Requirements

  • Be comfortable working across the stack, whether that’s building APIs, working with databases, or developing user interfaces
  • Have experience implementing frontend code using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Have experience in a high-level language (e.g. Ruby, Python and JavaScript)
  • Have experience with a web framework (e.g. Rails, Django)
  • Have worked with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL) and understand how to design and query them efficiently
  • Have a quality mindset and are passionate about testing
  • Be a self-driven and proactive engineer who can unblock themselves by asking questions and collaborating with others
  • Be comfortable navigating ambiguity and working through open-ended problems collaboratively

Responsibilities

  • Work with product, design and the wider team to understand requirements and shape features
  • Write simple, readable, maintainable code across the full stack in our Rails applications
  • Design, document and implement database model changes, and write database migrations as needed
  • Participate in code reviews with the rest of the team
  • Deploy and monitor features to ensure they perform well in production
  • Learn from and contribute to a growing engineering culture
