Software Engineer - Cloud Compute

Summary

Join Canva's Cloud Compute team and contribute to the design, building, and maintenance of core Kubernetes infrastructure components. You will extend and support tooling for virtual machines, investigate and resolve system performance issues, create automation to improve reliability, and be on-call for operational excellence. The ideal candidate possesses strong coding proficiency in Python or Golang, experience with Kubernetes clusters, Linux systems, infrastructure as code, cloud networking, and observability systems. Requirements

• You have strong coding proficiency in Python or Golang
• You have experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production environments
• You have strong understanding of Linux systems and performance troubleshooting
• You have experience with infrastructure as code and automation
• You have an understanding of cloud networking and security principles
• You have experience with observability systems and practices
• You have a methodical approach to problem-solving and debugging
• You are comfortable with ambiguity and ability to make appropriate trade-offs

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining core Kubernetes infrastructure components
• Extending and supporting tooling to build and manage virtual machines
• Investigating and resolving system performance and reliability issues
• Creating and refining automation to improve reliability and reduce operational overhead
• Being on-call for the team's products and drive operational excellence
• Sharing knowledge with other engineers in infrastructure best practices
