Summary

Join Black and White Zebra (BWZ), a rapidly growing indie media company, as a Software Engineer. You will be responsible for the entire development process, from planning and development to testing and deployment. The role involves working on back-end systems and integrations using technologies like Node.js, Python, and AWS, as well as contributing to the development of the multi-site web platform and ad tech platform. You'll collaborate closely with the Back-End, Web Platform, and Ad Tech teams. Remote work or flexible hours are available if you are located in Curitiba, Brazil, with hours needing to be at least partially compatible with the PST time zone. BWZ values technical skills and curiosity above all else. Success is measured by effectiveness, not hours worked.

Requirements

• Be a Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience in software development projects
• Have experience working with data engineering projects
• Have experience working with back-end development
• Automate repetitive tasks
• Be good at managing your own working time
• Be curious about how things are done and how they work
• Like to test new things and not mind if it doesn't work
• Have 5+ experience as a software developer working with web applications projects
• Have experience with system design for data engineering projects
• Have a deep understanding of databases and how they work
• Have experience with programming languages, such as PHP, Python, Ruby, or similar
• Have experience with Javascript technologies, such as React, Ember.js , Node.js , or similar
• Have curiosity to understand how things work
• Have an unbridled openness to learning new technology
• Have great time-management and prioritization skills
• Be open to learning and using new programming languages
• Be comfortable to read / write documentations from / to others
• Have good communication in English

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions for back-end systems, AI Agents, and a variety of integrations between back-office tools
• Research and learn new technologies and solutions to make suggestions and implementations that better fit our product needs to perform and scale

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience with AWS-based architecture
• Have experience with AI development tools
• Have experience developing Python applications
• Have experience developing APIs
• Have experience writing tests and deployment processes
