Software Engineer II

Summary

Join Toast's Fintech team as a Software Engineer II and contribute to the development of a unified payment processing solution. You will collaborate with product managers and engineers to design, build, and maintain high-performance microservices. This role requires experience with Kotlin/Java, microservices architecture, and backend systems. The ideal candidate will advocate for best coding practices and work with cross-functional teams. Toast offers competitive compensation and benefits, including a hybrid work model. The salary range is $115,000-$184,000 USD.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in designing and implementing robust backend services using Kotlin and/or Java
• Demonstrated experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies for enhanced scalability and maintainability
• Understanding of backend architecture patterns, including microservices, monolithic, and event-driven architectures
• Experience developing scalable, secure, and performant backend systems
• Understanding of testing principles, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing

Responsibilities

• Be part of a team working collaboratively with Product Managers and other engineers designing, building and maintaining high performance, flexible and highly scalable microservices
• Use cutting-edge technologies and best practices to optimize for performance and usability, ultimately enhancing the overall restaurant management experience
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Toast
• Advocate best coding practices to raise the bar for you, your team and the company

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Payment systems is desired, but not required
• Experience with AWS DynamoDB and PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform

• The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience
