Summary

Join Smartsheet's Resource Management team as a full-stack Software Engineer II and contribute to the development of integrated people profile, capacity, scheduling, and time reporting capabilities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build quality software using a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Develop backend APIs and web services on the cloud, participate in the full product life cycle, and develop front-end components for a sophisticated user interface. This role requires experience in Java, Ruby on Rails, AWS, Terraform, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. The position offers remote work options within the United States and a competitive salary and benefits package.

Requirements

  • 2+ years software development experience working with programming languages such as Java, Ruby, JavaScript, or similar languages
  • 2+ years web application development experience
  • 1+ years experience in SaaS application development
  • Working knowledge of backend services design, architecture and scalability and availability considerations
  • Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop reliable, scalable and performant backend APIs and web services on the cloud (using Java, Ruby on Rails, AWS, Terraform)
  • Participate across the full product life cycle: product design, implementation, and operational support
  • Develop software with a focus on excellent customer experiences
  • Develop modular, maintainable front-end components for a sophisticated and unique user interface (React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS)
  • Participate in all phases of quality assurance and defect resolution with a focus on test automation and code coverage
  • Maintain a high level of operational excellence focusing on application and infrastructure scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Strategically apply and champion AI tools within your team's domain to improve project execution, system design, quality, and debugging, leading adoption of AI best practices and driving measurable productivity gains
