Software Engineer Internship

Summary

Join Canva's 12-week, remote-friendly Infrastructure Engineer Internship program, running from early December to late February, and gain valuable experience working on real-life projects. You'll be supported by a dedicated Host and Buddy, and be part of a welcoming Early Talent community. The program offers flexible working arrangements, allowing you to work from the office, home, or a combination of both. As an intern, you'll collaborate with your team to design, develop, test, and maintain your project, develop documentation, interact with stakeholders, and learn from experienced engineers. The internship provides opportunities for professional development, social events, and a campus week to experience Canva's culture.

Requirements

• You are currently enrolled and completing your studies between 2026 and mid-2027
• You are based in Australia or New Zealand and have working rights
• You have excellent Computing and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Fundamentals
• You are comfortable coding in Python, Go or Java
• You have knowledge of cloud architecture concepts and/or Infrastructure-as-Code
• You are familiar with version control concepts (we're using Git!)
• You are familiar with different testing principles
• You have the passion to learn and grow as a technologist
• You are excited to explore AI tools and use them in smart, helpful ways to boost your workflow
• You are able to commit to the 12-week, full-time summer program from early December 2025 to late February 2026

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with your assigned team to design, develop, test and maintain your intern project
• Developing and maintaining documentation for software development processes, procedures, and guidelines
• Developing your craft with some of the most talented engineers
• Interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders from both inside and outside your team to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
