Software Engineer IV - API/UI

Summary

Join OpenX's talented, remote-first US team as a Software Engineer to launch a new product. You will develop self-service tools that simplify and automate complex workflows for media activation. The ideal candidate is open-minded, proactive, self-motivated, and organized. The team is responsible for delivering a new product within OpenX's next-generation platform to help users activate their media more effectively. You will lead the design and development of self-service APIs and user interfaces, leverage existing platform components, and partner with data science and product teams. You will own end-to-end feature delivery and promote engineering excellence. The role offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Requirements

• 8+ years of full-stack development experience with strong proficiency in Python for backend development and modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript
• Expertise in building RESTful APIs, including data modeling, error handling, and performance optimization
• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design, querying, and tuning for performance and scalability
• Experience with modern test frameworks such as pytest, Cypress and Playwright
• Proven ability to launch new products, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and break down complex problems into clear milestones
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working closely with product and design teams to deliver user-facing features

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of self-service APIs and user interfaces for a new 0→1 product
• Leverage existing platform components to deliver scalable, performant and user-friendly solutions
• Partner with data science and product teams to turn advanced optimization algorithms into intuitive tools for media activation
• Facilitate collaborative discussions with team members and stakeholders to identify and deliver the best solutions to user and business problems
• Own end-to-end feature delivery, including architecture, implementation, testing, documentation, rollout, and adoption
• Promote engineering excellence through constructive code reviews, mentoring, and driving improvements in code quality, architecture, and platform best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on SaaS platforms with multi-step workflows, complex data models, or user-facing configuration tools
• Experience in digital media, marketing technology, or advertising technology
• Familiarity with design systems, reusable component libraries, or frontend architecture at scale
• Experience with GraphQL APIs and related tooling
• Experience working in cloud-native environments using Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Cursor and GitHub Copilot
